Football is My New Favorite Thing!

I grew up watching football, specifically my state's college football team: University of Hawaii Rainbow Warriors. Those of you from Hawaii are already moaning at the name, because sadly, they are the worst. Maybe they weren't always the worst, but they definitely have had their moments.

Still, for as long as I can remember (Mom tells me that she was attending games while pregnant with me), my family has had season tickets to watch the UH Rainbow Warriors — win or lose.

As far as following football in high school, my class had approximately 35 students. So, needless to say, we didn't quite have enough people to make a football team. In college, I attended Southern Oregon University in a small town that was known for its annual Shakespearean Festival (Ashland, OR). YEP! You guessed it, I didn't have a noteworthy college football team either.

Fast forward to today ... I am dating a boy who likes sports, naturally. So, we watch a lot of it — mainly basketball, but sometimes football. In fact, we've watched the entire NFL season so far, religiously! Now, aside from actually trying to find a team that I can cheer for — Hawaii doesn't have a professional football team, neither does Oregon — I have been really getting into the culture of the game! I mean, THE FOOD! THE DRINKS! THE LOUNGING IN FRONT OF THE TV FOR HOURS AT A TIME! Who doesn't love all of that?

I consider myself a full-on football lady now. And I especially look forward to Sundays when the entire day is reserved for the sport. I still don't have a team, but there's always next season!
