What's better than coffee?
Whether it helps you stay awake at work, keep you up for nightly activities or give you the boost you need for life in general, coffee definitely is a God-send. Personally, coffee has a special place in my heart, and although I'm not a connoisseur or anything, I've definitely acquired a specific taste for good — and bad — coffee. Once a fan of the Keurig, I can't even seem to finish a single cup of the stuff. So, after many trials, and trips to various coffee shops blocks away, my coworkers and I have finally found a satisfying "cup of joe" right in Waterfront Plaza (downstairs from our work)!
Row Bar is a bar, yes, but it's so much more than that! Alongside its cigar sales, the Row Bar also makes really good coffee. To my knowledge, they use illy coffee, which is supposed to be renowned in the coffee world, or so I'm told. The Italian coffee roasting company gets two thumbs up from me!
Pictured above is Nikki's Chai Tea latte, my Skinny Vanilla Latte and Kamele's Black Coffee with an extra shot of espresso. If our taste in coffee doesn't give you an idea of how different we are, then other traits will make them clear, however, we do share a lot of similarities, too. We all LOVE coffee, we're very passionate about it, actually, and we each are creative and talented in our own ways.
Nikki always is the fashionista, decorating herself with bright clothes and a bright smile to go with her outfit, whilst also decorating the pages of our Midweek publication with her graphic design skills. The first time I saw her house, I saw a myriad of her artwork littering the walls, alongside a lanai with a slew of her opened paints. Whatever she creates, she creates with other people in mind, to bring them joy, and I think that's what makes her soul so beautiful!
Kamele, she uses her talents to understand and connect with others. She can whip up a design or a sketch in a matter or minutes. She decorates post-it notes with her artwork as if it should be displayed in an art gallery (it would definitely be my favorite art gallery). Kamele not only is great at her job, but she also is great at being a decent human being, more than decent. She truly is the kindest, most loving person I've met in a really long time.
And although Kamele doesn't like sweating and therefore won't go hiking with you, she'd be there for all of the hard stuff you're going through, to listen, advise and show up. And even though Nikki has so much going on in her life, she still finds ways to ask you how you're doing and always makes the time to acknowledge your presence.
I could go on and on about the wonderful people I've had the privilege of meeting and making connections with in this office, but these souls and memories I've made with each person are sacred, and there are certain things that I'll keep to myself.
What does this have to do with coffee? I forget. All I do know is, next to these people, coffee is nothing in comparison. They are enough to get me through the day and to uplift my spirits. However, combining the two is one of my favorite things to do on a glum workday. I cherish and look forward to the walks down to Row Bar, when we can get into the sunshine and chat about what's going on in our lives. I would trade coffee for them any day, but I'm glad that I don't have to.
Until the next Chai Latte, Iced Coffee and Vanilla Latte~
